Journals, 1875-1916.

Comer's journals describe his journeys on board ship. One journal relates his first experience at sea to the Greenland whaling grounds, 1875-1876. Other journals written during his whaling to Hudson Bay and collecting expeditions principally describe conditions at sea but also include his impressions and observations of the Eskimo, 1879-1912. His journal as a member of the rescue party of the Crocker Land Expedition to the Arctic include his experiences while in the North and his excavations of Eskimo house ruins and a midden, 1915-1916.
